Benjamin Coley Lynes (6), just before he died July 2, 1927, released his title to the "Order of the Cincinnati" to him. This Society is purely for descendants of officers who served in the Rev. War. He had been approached several times by the then President, Mr. deForest, to join.
About 1927, Mr. Edward B. Lynes was notified from Washington that he had been appointed Captain in the U.S. Reserves, an honor he did not expect and interesting as his ancestor, Captain Jonathan Maltbie, 3rd, had held the same office in the U.S. Navy during the American Revolution.
